About the GMRA
NHS Trust and University partners formed the Greater Manchester Research Alliance (GMRA) in 2004, in response to a desire for a coordinated and synergistic pan-Manchester health research strategy, with major benefits for researchers and patients.
The GMRA was formally launched in October 2005 by Professor Sally Davies, NHS Director of R&D.
The goals of the GMRA are to:
-
To deliver better Research & Development (R & D)
-
To provide more cost effective research
-
To contribute to the national NHS R&D agenda
-
To carry out research to serve the people
-
To deliver light touch bureaucracy in research
Governance is provided by a Board, which identifies pan-Manchester research programmes, and regularly reviews their progress.
